This is actually very simple and I think will also work for other types of remote controls. It involves the simple opening of the remote and locating the antenna. The antenna may be a round or square flat surface. Lightly sand and solder a 2 inch piece of insulated wire to it. Loop the wire and keep it inside the remote.
Voila, the extended internal antenna had made the remote more powerful by at least 50 feet!
